So, when my amp is set at a quiet volume, sound only comes out of the right channel. When I crank up the volume past a certain point the left channel kicks in and works perfectly, at the correct volume. Any idea about cause?

You will struggle to find a replacement pot for that amplifier, it has a B100K horizontal mounted tandem pot with a 'loudness' tap. Due to the design of the chassis it would also be very difficult to fit a better quality pot as well. If it is causing you problems during listening you could always put some RCA attenuators on the inputs, this would move the listening position of the pot further around to the 9 or 10 o'clock position where the pot is tracking closer.
