Volume knob on cyrus prevs2

Hi guys! Im having a bit of trouble with my cyrus preamp volume knob. Its only been out of the box for about 2 hrs use and i am finding it very insensitive. I sometimes have to turn it 3 times to get the volume to drop down one notch. Is this normal? I understand that the volume is not controlled directly by the knob. If this is not normal, is it enough grounds to take it back for a return? I am worried because my last amp - Cambridge 840a had volume issues (increasing to max on its own accord) and i dont want the same to happen here as i have shelled a personal fortune on speakers.

All Cyrus amps have the same volume control. Each light (green lights round the volume knob) has 3 stages in loudness until it reaches the next stage, up or down.
