I would expect the fixed option to be the default when you have matching kit, with the variability to permit pairing with other makes with different sensitivity. Before you start, does the cd replay so loud that you only use a quarter turn or less of the volume? If so, there is too much gain and you might pad it down with the adjustment, but will be inserting another component in the signal path.donlogan said:i connected the c370 to fixed in on c272 i see there is a variable input on the c272 i'll try connecting to that tomorow and see what happens

I agree, Trevor, but that wasn't what the OP was wanting to achieve!TrevC said:nopiano said:I would expect the fixed option to be the default when you have matching kit, with the variability to permit pairing with other makes with different sensitivity. Turning the preset gain down is exactly the same thing as turning the volume control down. Gain presets are a very useful feature, they enable you to equalize the volume of all sources.

I think wires are getting crossed here! You surely need just one pair (if you need any at all) and they will either go between CDP and preamp, or between preamp and power amp?gasolin said:donlogan said:Thanks for info on rothwell audio but will have to wait until can afford these i need 16 in total,so are my gain levels mismatched and will this affect my amps are they configured correctly?
That's alot, mabye you can get a discount if you buy more then one pair, set
. Agreed!gasolin said:To attenuate pre/power combos, insert the attenuators into the powers amp's inut sockets - not the pre-amp's output sockets
