Hi,

I was wondering how you get rid of this hiss an pop on old vinyl's. I have a number of old records I like to listen to but was wondering if there is any safe way of cleaning the records to get rid of the hissing, poppping

if they just need a clean then have them cleaned. My local HiFi shop rents out record cleaners.

Depends if the hiss is there on the vinyl, likewise the pops. Try cleaning a couple, ideally using a professional service. Expect to pay anything from £1 to £2.50 a record.

Hiss shouldn't be a problem on vinyl. Probably best to get your stylus checked, it could be chipped. I find that most one-off pops are caused by small deposits in the surface and disappear by themselves after a couple of plays.
