V+ 5.1 surround

I cant seem to get 5.1 surround sound from my new Samsung V+ box using the Optical output.

Can anybody help please

Why don't you use the HDMI cable.

samsung V+ HDMI -> amp -> TV.

I believe you can only get the 5.1 surround on HD channels. This was the case when I had my home cinema set up, not sure if that is changed. I used to get it on BBC HD.

Optical is the way to go as well for 5.1. Again, not sure if this has changed.

Check out this thread for how to set up your V+ box to transmit 5.1 via optical (incidentally, it also works via HDMI).
