i heard a pair of usher s520s connected up to an arcam amp with kimber cable and was very impressed,very nice speakers for the money,if you can demo an arcam amp give it a go.

I was going to add one of the more meaty but discounted cambridge's are hard to beat.

That is assuming you can't go the jungson / shengya / xindak route which is hugely good in both value / build reliability and SQ.

A nice KT88 single ended tube amp, looks well built and supported. Can't say I've heard it, but it's difficult to mess up the sound of a tube SE amp and the kt88 is a decently powerful tube, and you can 'roll' or upgrade the tubes later!

Vocals sound great on tube amps too - and the SE gives it a lovely subtle sound and great timbre.

Ooo, nice speakers. Arcam sounds really good, so does Creek and perhaps s/hand Naim.
