usb hard drive instead of nas

hi

are there any network players/streamers that will except a usb hard drive instead of having a nas or lust a usb stick, i know the bryston models do but they are a bit expensive

Yes, loads - even my hundred and fifty quid Pioneer bluray player will do it. However, I've found that using something in that way, with no mechanism to manage playlists, metadata, queuing etc (on several pieces of kit such as a StreamMagic and a Uniti), as a NAS with a media server running on it might have, is a complete PITA.

thanks for the reply the reason i asked is I have a unitiqute that's out of warranty and having problems with its network connection wired and wireless it doesnt detect my qnap nas
