Upscaling - Which source should do it and how do i set it?

In my case, I let my Kuro do the DVD upscaling. It's easily the best upscaler in my setup. Yamaha is the worst upscaler. I suspect the Sony receiver, even though it was top of the range, isn't upscaling very well.

In my experience, the Oppo 93 has been the best DVD upscaler, followed by Denon 2012UD. It has a blu-rayesque quality. Take your player to the dealer & arrange a demo.

With regards to Sky HD box, 1080i is a better setting as otherwise AUTO forces the SD content to deinterlace to progressive and the deinterlacer in sky boxes is awful. So it's better to let the sky box scale to 1080i and let the TV deinterlace.
