Hi All, This is my first post here and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. I currently have a Denon 1907 AV Receiver and Kef 2005.2 speaker system. I have had them for 5 ish years now and have been very happy. However, I have the urge to upgrade but am faced with a problem. We recently re-furnished our lounge and after a great deal of debate my wife and I settled on a TV unit with enough space for all my kit. The problem is, the height available for my AV amp is 15cm (a perfect fit for my Denon 1907), but since my original purchase it would appear amplifiers have grown! My original upgrade intention was to purchase the Kef 3005se speaker system with a Denon 2311 (I have had a demo of this system and really liked it). But, the 2311 is too tall! Can anyone provide me with any suggestions on an upgrade route which would fit in our unit? Would the Kef 3005se work with my 1907 or am I going to be disappointed? Also if I kept the 1907 is there anyway of obtaining HD audio and good Ipod connectivity? (I have the Denon dock for the 1907 but it doesn't work with my new Ipod Touch). I have plenty of space available for kit, but no single item can exceed 15cm in height! Any help or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated I really am rather confused at the moment. Many thanks

PS Apologies for the one single paragraph above, something odd happened when I posted it.

You could have a look at the MARANTZ 1601 slimline A/V receiver, it is only 10.5cm high & the predecessor got good reviews.

If you keep the 1907 you could get the HD audio i believe via the analog inputs on the back of the amp ( bottom rear left ), you will however have to find a suitable player with analogue out & not all have them.

If you keep your existing reciever the Sony BDP 760 has analogue outputs as well as HDMI. I use the HDMI and the picture quality and sound quality via my Onkyo 905 and B&W 685 Theatre are sensational! It used to be £400 and I got mine for a £100 before last Christmas new and boxed what a bargain.

Best wishes

Thanks for the replies, I see Marantz has announced the release of the new 1602 which looks like it could be the answer to my prayers! However, I have real concerns it will not be an upgrade from my current 1907 in terms of sound quality and power output.

Is it likely the 1602, being 5 years newer, will be a marked improvement in quality or will it be on a par with the Denon 1907, or worse? I notice the new 1602 is 50w compared to the 85w of the 1907.

Is the 1602 likely to hinder my future plans to upgrade the Kef 2005.2 speakers?

Any advice or guidance appreciated.

Regards
