Hello WhatHiFi gurus.

I nee an advise. I have budget-level setup and I am not so happy with sound quality. It is simply doesn't sound good enough.

i would like to make an upgrade, but I don't reall know what to upgrade first, and what to do next.

so, my setup is the following:

Source: computer with J River MC 19

connected to NAD375BEE (with internal DAC) throught MusicFidelity V-Link USB-SPDIF converter

speakers: Polk Audio RtiA7

Budget for upgrade: 1000 eur

thanks a lot!

Doesn't sound good enough is a bit thin to go on, what is it you don't like?

i like rock, we put classical music for our child, my wife likes pop. noone of the genres doesn't sounds good.

it is hard to say what exactly. Mid-range is loudy and not clean enough, bass is not precise. Ears are "tired" after 15-20 min of listening on normal volume (not high), so we reducing a volume to a "background music" level.

Listening room is around 50 m^2, and suffer from small echo problem, which is an issue by itself, but I cannot make any changes, since house is rented.
