About five years ago I purchased in the UK a brand new Sony Amplifier TBF-940R. It has a gold headphone socket under a pull down panel on the front. I never tried using headphones with this amp until a couple of days ago when I bought a a pair of Sony headphones and found that they do not fit. The headphones come with the standard minijack and a universal adaptor. The mini jack is too small for the socket on the amp and when the adaptor is fitted it is too big. They do however fit my Sony Tape deck when the adaptor is fitted. Just wondered if anyone has come across this before and if anyone knows if there is an adaptor available to fit the socket on the amp?

Is that the same as the TA-FB940R? I had one and the headphone socket behind the flip-down panel was standard. No idea what's happened to yours.

Check that it is actually a socket, not just a hole where the socket should be!
