Should i go for the Denon DBP-1611UD Blu ray player at £369 or should i wait and get the Denon DBP-2012 believied to be at the £750?

The reason i ask this is because i will be putting it through my Denon AVR-3311 (when it gets here, been delayed by a week).

On the specs it appears that the DBP-2012 has pretty much the same video processor and DAC's as the receiver (dual technology). So my thinking is, go for the cheaper one, DBP-1611UD as the raw digital signal i would be feeding to the receiver would then be converted to probably the same quality in both sound and images.

Would people concur, the money i would be saving i would put towards upgraded my speakers.

I just bought the sister company's Marantz UD5005 and I came to the same conclusion. The next model up had the same chassis, the main difference being multi-channel analogue outs and a slightly better DAC, not an issue if you're connecting by HDMI and decoding via the receiver.

I spent the money saved on getting the player upgraded in the areas that I wanted.

You make a good point Tony, the 3311 and the dbp-2012 both use the anchorbay processor so who knows?

Buying the 1611 and letting the amp process the signal may give the same results as having the 2012 process the signal.

I suppose it depends how much money u want to spend, and whether £400 extra or so spread over x years is worth maybe a slightly better performance. (if any)

Or do fancy having black or silver
