TV to CD player?

I have a Marantz CD63 MkII

It has an optical plug on the back. Can i plug my TV optical audio output plug into this plug in order to use its onboard dac so I can use my system to play the sound from the tv?

Can anyone give me some advice please?

No. It's an output on the CD player, not an input.
