TT making sound with amp turned off - Is this normal?

Hi, I was having a Project - Debut III turntable which sounded nice for me. But due to change in the amplifier, I had to either buy a Phono Amp or a TT with built-in phono. So I switched to Debut III Phono SB.

Now whenever, I play a record, even if the Integrated Amplifer is tuurned off, I can still hear faint music from the TT. Is this normal or I am doing something wrong. Please let me know as I have no much clue about this.

Yes - it's normal. The sound will be coming from the stylus/cartridge vibrating.

Hi,

I would agree also. This is called 'needletalk' caused by resonances in the record and cartridge/headshell. A perfect arm would not have any and therefore not colour the sound, but as they all do to some degree then they sound different.

I guess it has to do with TT / tonearm as well.. I did not hear much from the Pro-ject Debut III and none from the Radius
