Does anyone know of a hifi furniture maker that makes replicas?

Might get one in light wood if the price is less than cyrus.

If not I see if someone local can knock one up or wait for a good one to pop up on the bay.

Cheers

Hold on a minute I just looked up those racks and a price came up of £1000?

I have got a few bits of cyrus kit and I will tell you this, look at the base and 2p of cheap feet they put on them that drop off when you so much as look at them and also look at the flimsy bottom plate anyway.

Does this rack somehow support the cyrus stuff so you aren't using the flimsy bottom plate and the cupboard stick on bumps they try to pass off as feet?

Yes. They are well supported.

Do you not like the Hark / Hark II?

They were selling them off cheap at Richer Sounds not so long go ex-dem. I bought one, resprayed the base to match the graphite grey of the supports, then did an Ikea hack - the Billy glass shelf is a perfect fit for the supports and therefore I can fit any shoebox sized bit of kit on the shelves, not just Cyrus boxes.

Dont like that one but thanks for the suggestion.

As to the Hark Racks, I don't like the MKII, especially the bottom plate.

The MKI has solid cast outrigger shelves and cast Base. Weighs a ton. I should know, moved recently and my back wasn't thanking me. - It's an amazing construction and looks superb. Just want to try the wooden option for a change :)

Interesting thread. Been looking for something to improvise as a rack myself, not just because my older Cyrus kit is too high to fit the current Cyrus racks, but because the price in any case is a piss take no matter where you look. Licence to print money.

Any half-decent joiner could knock up a reasonable rack such as this if given your dimensions and preferred wood.

Seek and ye shall find!

Very true of course, but I get much value from repurposing something left of field for a task for which it wasn't intended, so I'm still looking, albeit not ernestly, and waiting for just the right 'something' to catch my eye. Such as the idea of knocking up my own Isoplat for my PCM II using a grantite chopping board and sorbothane feet, though that's still 'pending', waiting for me to find a granite chopping board 430mm wide. I have no illusions the SQ would change; it's just a novelty idea that would look cool with the bright red vinyl 'MISSION' decal I made up.

I know. Finding one that has time is an altogether bigger task.

Is this any good, DM? Not a million miles from you either.
