Treated myself to a new hi-fi rack...

I'm facing a pay freeze and possibly redundancy at work, so I recklessly indulged in some retail therapy and treated myself to a new hi-fi rack!

It's a Milan rack by Custom Design.

I took a bit of a risk as I couldn't preview the wood and glass combination before purchase. Luckily I really like it. What do you think? Here's a snap or two (fingers crossed this image posting malarkey actually works)...

That looks awesome, I wish I had space in my tiny halls... *sheds tear*

it looks absoloutley stunning, and the quality of the photos are sublime to say the least. Are you a professional phographer by any chance?

As a cabinetmaker, the only thing i can see is that they have left a lot of sapwood in the walnut which should have been machined out, but more an observation that a criticism🙂....

It looks rubbish, and no doubt those Naims sound rubbish too.

I also imagine they would sound even more rubbish paired with some rubbish ProAc Studio 140s or equally rubbish Wilson Benesch Square Rubbish 2s.

Verry nice stand. Made a mental note of it actually. That big open space on top bereft of turntable makes me a bit sad though....

Well thank you all for your kind comments. At least it goes to show that I'm not completely delusional!

Messiah:You know it looks great! You just wanted to show of your kit. Didn't Ya......go on, admit it!
Nothing flash about the kit. Just a couple of Naim's budget boxes.

Thank you, and yes I am a pro. However, I don't do studio stuff, I'm a press photographer...for my sins; so these pics were taken with my day-to-day kit using a couple of bog standard flash guns. It was all an unexpected pain in the bum, trying to manoeuvre around my small lounge, falling over furniture and narrowly avoiding poking holes in my speakers. ;-)

Me too. That shelf cost far too much to purely act as a dust cover and keep a few transient bits 'n' bobs off the CD player! I have an old, neglected, cheap and cheerful turntable (Rotel RP-830) that needs fettling into working condition so that I can indulge in a spot of nostalgia listening to a few LPs left over from the early 80s. Then after that I may set up an old, unused PowerBook to use as a music server, and plonk that on the shelf in place of the turntable.

Thanks again all.

Cheers,
Tony

It's thanks to you that I now have to listen to my system in the dark as I'm ashamed at how it looks. You're welcome to come round to take my eBay pics when I trade it all in for Naim/Custom Design kit tho'.

Something about hifi and photogs...

C'mon lads let's sell him on Vinyl again! A Debut III could sneak in there and you can pick up wax at the more reputable hmv's now!

Incidentally you could sell those snaps to Naim, or the company that makes the stand. Naim could use some good promotional material, the current stuff is nonsense.

The Debut III will sound shocking compared to the Naims. I bought my dad one last year and it's not as nice as his Arcam Alpha 6 CD.

That's true, the Xpression pairs nicely. But at twice the purse, and it won't really be complete until paired with the 2M Blue at the least.

Without doubt, the best looking set up I've ever seen. Fair play sir.

absolutey stunning, custom design make some cracking stands and i fully intend to get the a/v version of the milan once i start piecing together my a/v kit after xmas.

Very very nice.

I do like the custom design stuff... so much after seeing this thread i hada look in the local shop for some.

But i am now very poor so that will have to wait...

Really suits your Naim kit. What speakers are you running with them?

That is the dogs.

Do you mind if i save these pictures.

Nice. Very very nice.

Humble press photographer....with those pictures...too modest. I bet any celeb you may have snapped would be pleased to come out with a finish as good as that kit!

Hi Tony, love the setup. How does it sound?. Custom Design are awesome!!!

What camera do you have cause its awesome too! 😛

May I ask what is near the bottom of the hifi rack that isnt a Naim equipment item? Is it the Velodyne SMS 1 thingy. Thanks
