Hi

Further to all the really helpful advice about placement and size of a plasma screen - my sister has the 37 " Pana Plasma and has offered to bring it over to get an idea.

However - am I right in thinking they need to be transported in an upright position and that lying it (in its box) in the box of the car would do it no good at all ?

Thanks

...Even though it may fit in the car more easily in pieces.

Thanks guy - I don't want to wreck my sister's telly so will decline the offer!

Perhaps cutting out a 37" plasma sized bit of cardboard from the box and sticking that on the wall would be a better idea

That's a plan...

Or a sheet of A1 paper should give you a pretty good idea.

I had a bit of a Spinal Tap moment there, and read that as A4.

And anyway my maths were all up the wossname there - to represent a 37in screen size you need to cut a piece of card/paper/gold leaf/persian carpet/butter muslin/whatever 32in (or 81cm) wide, and 18in (or 46cm) deep.

Have you thought about using low stick masking tape or even chalk to get the size of the tv on your wall ? Easy to take off as well.

I did that when we chose a tv coupled with the recommended viewing distances for the sizes of tv we were looking at.It will give you a bit of a better idea what you are dealing with

Well all the walls need re plastering and painting so that's a great idea - I think I'll draw plasmas all over the house.

I'll draw 50 inchers all over the place so when a 37 or 40" appears she'll think I've compromised and bought a 'small' one...

Fiendish .

How about drawing a 37,42,46 and a 50" on the wall ? Not only to get a better idea of the different sizes, but if you then setteled on the 37" from all those choices you could be in for some bonus browny points.

Just explain it as being in the "sales" . I was going to spend 2k on a 50" , but I managed to get this 37" plus speakers and amp for the same money. Surely 3 for the price of 1 has got to be a good deal ?
