I am in the hunt for a new lcd screen. . . .

I will mainly watch sport and movies on it . . . . .

Which one of the above lcd screens is best for me? And also in general which is the better model?

Bit tough getting a 40in plasma... if you can stretch to 42in, they should definitely come into consideration, though.

But back to the OP. We've done a head to head test between those two sets - and six others - in our current issue. Both are great sets, but the Sony, for us, is the top buy.

I am currently in the same predicament!

When first reviewed the Samsung got a 5 star review and then "lost" it's 5th star because the Sony came out and was seen to be better. Shouldn't the Samsung have kept its 5th star owing to the fact that was a great LCD, still is a great LCD and it's now fantastic value for money - currently at £899 on the high street??? That's a good £400 cheaper!

Reason I'm saying this is because I've tested both and the Sony IS very impressive, but so was the Samsung, also isn't the Sony meant to be very weak with freeview?
