I think would be quite handy to have a list of everyones top 5 for demo purposes or the blueray's that just make your jaw drop! I know WHF did a top 50 in the ultimate blueray guide just want to see what everyone else thinks!

[*]Ratatouille
[*]30 days of night
[*]There will be blood
[*]Planet Earth
[*]Sweeney Tod

Also really looking forward to getting Wall E and The Dark Knight!

Spiderman 3 - the best sound I've heard by a distance.
Hairspray - film, picture and sound just superb.
Ratatouille - as above.
Zodiac - brilliant film, great picture, sound (only DD) but great extras.
Ice Age 2 - Picture and sound, almost perfection.

I could go on though, it's easier to list the duds.

I'm glad someone else on here likes 'Hairspray'. ÿThe 7.1 soundtrack is awesome, IMHO. ÿI'd have to go with Ratatouille too, but I was astonished by Batman Begins, 2001 is amazing and then I'd have to go with another animation - Cars. ÿ

These aren't necessarily the best films, but they're great Blu-Ray demos.ÿ

1. The Incredible Hulk (2008) - a decent film lifted by a fantastic video transfer, which reveals endless amounts of detail from faces, and really complements the fantastic effects work on the beast himself. Just watch the scene where the Hulk and Betty take shelter from the rain to see what I mean! And the audio tears through your living room with brute force - the gunfire in the university action sequence sounds amazingly real! All in all, it's the best example in my collection of what I would call demo material!

2. Ratatouille (2007) - plenty of people have mentioned this one already, and for good reason! The way Blu-ray picks out each and every hair on each individual rat is almost unnervingly realistic! The metal surfaces in the kitchen, for instance, look so real they could be real surfaces in a live-action film. A brilliant film by the brilliant Pixar, and done justice with an equally brilliant Blu-ray presentation.

3. Casino Royale (2006) - a crisp, vivid picture and an incredibly exciting, pulse-pounding soundtrack. What more could you want? (Oh and the film is rather good too.)

4. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) - OK, so the total lack of extras is disappointing, but I honestly never thought a 17 year old film could look like it was made yesterday!

5. Batman Begins (2005) - Granted, it's a fairly murky looking film which doesn't have many opportunities to shine from a PQ point of view - but that doesn't mean that the picture isn't still fantastically detailed, with deep black levels and great contrast. But it's the soundtrack which makes this a winner - watch the Tumbler chase and sit back to be enthralled to an extent you never thought you could be in your own living room!

I've only counted films I actually own, but I've seen a few other corkers recently (Cars, Indy 4) which would definitely rank very highly too! But I'm counting down the seconds until The Dark Knight - it's the reason why I went for Blu-ray and surround sound in the first place!!! I just felt, after leaving the cinema, that when I watched a film that monumental at home, it had to be done some kind of justice!!! I honestly CANNOT WAIT for December 8th.

1. i-Robot
2. Ratatouille
3. Batman Begins
4. Transformers
5. Independance Day

However... with the soon to be arriving Matrix, WALL-E and Dark Knight this list will probally be changing in the very near future. The Matrix transfer has had rave reviews so far. The scene where Neo and Trinity storm the lobby is going to have to be my reference point for my surround sound set up.

I personally thought indie 4 locked really bad. The PQ was awful and made the effects look fake, especially the chase through the jungle.

Indie 4 spoiler below YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

On top of which... Aliens?? I mean come on!!!!!!!!!!

I watched WALL-E last night and it is the best bluray I have ever seen or heard. It has raised the bar for sound and vision and raises it very high indeed. Up until this point Ratatouille was one of the greatest animated films I had ever seen. WALL-E blasts this out of the water. I would go as far as to say, I my opinion, WALL-E is one of the best films I have ever seen. It just happens to be animated.
