if my speakers are ' breathing ' in and out, is the volume too much ?

im not listening at earth shattering levels, but i havent noticed them do it before

they are aegis 2's by the way

plus im listening to spotify through the pc, which may require more power, as the bitrate is low.

May be caused by some low-frequency noise or interference on the signal, just like warps on vinyl cause cones to move visibly.

Sounds like you need to press the good old infra/subsonic/rumble filter button; if fitted to your amplifier?
