Hey got my ex demo walnut RXFX yesterday, thanks you know who.. Anyway, when they came out of the box, guess what the wife said..... And she hates my home cinema stuff.

Yes thats right, they are so sexy, I looked at her and said what, she said they are the nicest things you have bought. I thought my amp and my RX6 ad the Blox stand was nice, but these RXFX are smaller than I thought, and god are they heavy.

Cant wait to hook up on saturday, cant do it when I get home as the little ones dont like the drill.

Oh by the by, do you put the speakers on the wall with a level, or do you use the cardboard thing, and poke holes through the area were the screws go and mark the wall, or both.

Thanks all

If they come with a template I'd use that with a level. Only time I'd dispense with the level is when there's something else nearby that is not level (most commonly a radiator) and I'd do it by eye to that object.

I learnt that when hanging rads under windows. There's nothing looks so bad as a perfectly level rad under a sloping window sill.

And congratulations on attaining audio nirvana. Stuff that not only sounds and looks good, but also doesn't attract grief from the other half.

Agree with Big Chris, use the template with a level, pilot the holes with a smaller drill first to make sure you are dead centre. Oh and always use the correct fixings, ie plasterboard or rawl etc.

Good thing is, I bought my house and tore down the inside and knocked walls down,so I know were everywire and pipe is.

The back wall is just solid brick, and just need 2 inch screws I would assume due to the weight.

Thanks guys cant wait until saturday.

Still trying to clear the garage out. Sadly, I have nowhere to put all the stuff while I baton, insulate, board & plaster the garage, and the weather isn't permitting leaving everything out on the deck while I do the work.

It will happen, but may have to wait until early next year now.

I hung my M1s with expanding bolts! I have a 'belt & braces' approach when wall hanging stuff. Most of the stuff I wall mount I could probably hang off..... Well, not me, but a 'normal' person could.

Yes they are! Mrs scene felt similar about my gloss white RXFX

Definitely use the template and a spirit level, and make sure you get those holes nice and perpendicular to the wall, as there's not a lot of wiggle room on the slots on the back of the speakers. I've got a very snug fit, pushing too snug

Yes I thought I would have to put the ice amp in there, looked important, lol

Scene, did you just poke a hole through the template, or did you tape to the wall and screw threw it? do I make sure I put it right at the top in the centre.

Dont need more holes in my wall.. Ha Ha

Taped it to the wall and then did my usual trick of hammering a large nail through centre to produce pilot hole for drill. Then removed template (to ensure re-usability), masking tape over pilot hole (to reduce damage to surface) and then drill into plaster / brickwork with drill 0.5mm smaller than described for rawlplug. Little wiggle at end results in a nice snug fit for rawlplug...
