Hello Rockywebb,
I think the Q Acoustics Q-TV2 is absolutely brilliant - but as I was involved (in a small way) in the design of the product, I'm not completely neutral on the subject.
Q-TV2 is not a 'surround' product. It is a pure 2.1 stereo design with a 100 Watts of amplification - a 50 Watt subwoofer and 25 Watts for each ultra slim 'Satellite'. I confess I regard it as much a 'hi-fi' product as a 'home cinema' design. It will deliver a massive upgrade in sound quality compared to any TV's internal speakers, with much lower distortion, far greater resolution, dynamic range and, if you require it sheer volume. Because it's a good stereo product it will give you a sound that genuinely 'gets outside the box' and has, depending on the input signal, a good three dimensional soundstage,
It makes no claims to provide artificial 'surround sound' by producing out of phase signals or other trickery because to be frank, we consider a pure stereo soundstage to sound infinitely superior. It's good on music as well as movies/video games etc.
I'm very pleased to report it has been a tremendous success over the five months since its release, with many thousands sold. Needless to say, it won't give you as big a sound as a full 5.1 system, but it is almost invisible, takes up just about zero space, is a doddle to fit and you don't see any wires. I would urge you to get a proper demo at your local dealer.
Very best regards,
Steve Reichert, PR Manager - Armour Home (Q Acoustics)
