Who says it`s the end of plasma they are still the best tech for tv`s I`ve looked at samsung led and unless it`s my vision they have a blue tinge to the picture that is supposed to be black. Also it does not help when Comet show plasma`s with scart connections and samsung connected with hdmi are they doing that to push the Samsung range!

That is shocking! You should write to the manufacturer of one of the scart tested TVs and see if they may like to hear what Comet are doing.

I think most customers would be absolutely disgusted.

I would boycott Comet, if I ever shopped there.

I agree but the amount of consumers out there who do not know what to look for become easy pickings for sale hungry staff.

the_lhc:I've noticed our local Currys has been giving Samsung more prominence for the last few years, I wonder if there's more profit margin in them?

Maybe, or salesmen's incentives.

Must be something in it for Comet but I say come on Comet lets have a level playing field and let people decide what tv they like not just the ones that have HDMI connected!

I don't think it's anything malliscous going on at Comet. Trust me commision is not great for Currys or Comet. You do not earn any commision until you have sold £25000 worth of goods first. Then you get only 1% of what you sell after that. Believe me most salesman any good will sell £30000 of goods which means 1% commision on £5000. That is only around £50. If you have bad week you have done all that running around for nothing for example if you just reach your first £25000 of sales and that is all the sales you make. The scart thing to be honest is just down to pure laziness or management that don't really care too much or not have enough wires to use for whatever reason, for example not wanting to open up too many packets of wires because setup wires come off the shelf the consumers buy from unless there is a special promo stand where manufacture comes and sets it all up.

Never said it was fault of sales people but it will come from above where incentives might be higher. But my question is do they tell customer about the different connections and which gives the best results!

Honestly they probably would not know theselves. They just are not knowledgeble enough. You do get some great staff that do know their stuff but will never get given the respect they deserve in that kind of environment of stack em high sell them high lol. The problem is the older staff get baffled by all the technical jargon. The young guys are just there to get money on weekends to fund their uni expenses and more concerned with what they want to do socialy. Again most people including staff just don't know what makes a good product. When I was at Currys it was just uphill struggle trying to show staff how to listen to a product and how to judge picture quality and these guys were all kinda my age. I did that kind of thing out of my own time because I was so embarrassed at how uninformed my colleagues were. I tried to raise their game but who's gonna listen to the little man ay?
