Wasn't sure which was the best section to put this in, but at least the topic's straightforward: where is the best place to get SACD or DVD-Audio discs from in the UK? The obvious candidates like Amazon and so forth seem to have a rather restricted catalogue compared to the U.S. - is there anywhere in this great nation which gives us a more complete selection? Or maybe better prices?

Where do people get their SACD or DVD-Audio discs from?

In the U.S. there is nobody better than Acoustic Sounds (http://www.acousticsounds.com) for DVD-Audio and SACD releases. They have every disc available.

Thanks TCA - I'll have a look at that. Any more ideas, guys? Especially of suppliers in the UK?

I generally go for the new/used from Amazon - almost always the cheapest, and always reliable. HMV and Tesco are sometimes good for price.

For classical there's Presto Classics, Crotchet

There's also CD Universe in the US (http://www.cduniverse.com/) - and unlike Acoustic Sounds there's no minimum order of $50 if ordering from the UK.

Amazon UK's "New and Used" sellers are often handy as well. From the main page, select "Music" and look down the left, you should then see "DVD Audio" and "SACD" as other formats.

Play (http://www.play.com/) also do DVD Audio and SACD discs as well, again they have separate sections within the music section.

Quite a number of DVD-As are deleted that I managed to get through Amazon's "new and used" - like Metallica's self-titled album (aka The Black Album) - that's a perfect example of what DVD-A can do. And if you can get hold of it, the US Dualdisc 20th anniversary edition of Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms" - it's CD one side, DVD-A on the other, and the DVD-A remaster was done by Mark Knopfler himself. In the UK, it's a SACD hybrid release.
