Technics SL-7

Have just come across one of these. It's a direct drive, automatic model, excellent condition, prob about 25 years old. Does anyone have any knowledge of this TT? Would be quite interested to know if it's any good, as it's certainly a convenient size!

The SL-7 is a well engineered piece of kit, and if in good working order will give pretty good sound quality.

I remember selling these way back when, and at the time dismissed them, and other Technics decks as "Jap cr*p" against the Linn, Systemdeck, Ariston etc turntables. In hindsight they were actually rather good, and I now use, and throughly enjoy, a Technics SL-1500 Mk1, after 23 years of owning various LP12s!

Thanks for the reply - had a listen earlier on my brother's setup and it sounded pretty competent, within the limits of some very ordinary equipment. Do you have any idea how it might match up to modern budget decks like Project Debut, etc.?
