Hi all this is my first post to the forum and I wonder if some one can help me, my hoby is collecting and listening to music, and whilst saving for a small Denon system ,I have been fortunate enough to inherit my uncles Technics Hi Fi seperates, I have the SA-GX130D receiver and a RS-TR474 Cassette player and a pair of Celestion MP1 speakers. The sound quality has blown me away and added a whole new lease of life to my music collection, however I am currently playing CD's through a CD to Tape converter, to me, it sounds incredible but I would like your opinion as to wether I should search for the Technics CD player, I want to make sure I am doing the system justice, and whilst not being an expert , I can't help but feel its not the ideal set up. Will I gain even further sound quality through the a Technics CD player or is a CD player a CD player!?

Many thanks in advance for your help

Rather than get the matching cd player you'd do better getting an entry level/budget one. Maybe a look at Richer Sounds is in order.

Hi Andrew,ÿ

as you can tell, I am brand new to HI - FI and I was ÿworried this post may be a bit basic/newbie for this forum , so thank you for response, I have checked out the Richer Sounds site, you would reccomend purchasing a new, budget cd player over a second hand Technics one? I am curious, is the benefit I would recieve in cost or quality?

Again, many thanks for your reply , I think I will have to embark on a bit of reading up/ homework ect ! ÿ

The benefit would be in quality I'd say. You could get a second hand Technics cdp pretty cheap and it would be a good improvement on your current setup. That said, if you shop around a bit you should find a new cdp for between £100/£150 (Nad,Marantz etc) and for the higher initial expense you'll get even more quality and the basis of a nice system to which you could add as time and funds allow.
