Hi Guys,

I am about to order some QED Silver anniversary XT cables for my B&W speaker packages but I am lost with regards to the cables being terminated using Banana AIRLOC plugs.

What is wish to find out is :

a. Is it really worth it having this done?

b. Do I need or have it have this done on both ends?

Please note that I will be connecting the speakers for a brief period to my NAD T751 (don't laugh) AV receiver until I have this upgraded. Therefore if i have them terminated at one/both ends will they connect to the current NAD receiver and the new which is likely to be an Onkyo or Sony receiver? This I am assuming to all be generic.

Many thanks

Michael

You would have to look at the connections on your speakers, to see if they take banana plugs or not.

Banana plugs are used purely for neatness & ease of use, no other reason, so it's up to you if you want them or not.

Many thanks for your response. I will only have to connect them once and so I don't think there is any real need to buy the plugs.................

The Airloc plugs also prevent oxidation of the cables - again, this isn't strictly necessary as standard bare wires can just be stripped back every now and then. I did it though as if there's one thing I hate doing, it's reconnecting speaker cable terminals when I move my system around. Unplugging and plugging in banana plugs is so much easier!
