Hi

Does any one have the new Tannoys? Or maybe auditioned them somewhere?

I'm wondering how do they compare to B&W 600 series as it's quite difficult to find a shop that have both of them. I will most likely plug them to one one the AV Receivers in £1k range (Onkyo 875 most likely)

The Tannoys are reviewed in the latest HFW mag (hope I'm allowed to say that on here) in a group test with System Fidelity SF-5050 (no, I've not heard of them either), Quad 21L2, Audio Pro Avanti A70, Kef iQ9 and B&W CM7. They liked the B&Ws the most with the Revolution Signatures awarded four globes.

We've also now tested several models in the new Revolution range - all stunning so far. First Group Test being done right now, with results out 29th May....

Very different sonic signature to the B&Ws, IMHO - faster, if maybe a touch lighter in the bass. Which you prefer would be a matter of personal taste and system-matching - get auditioning!

Interesting.. I've listened to B&W CM7 today with Pioneer LX70 and Arcam AVR350. They didn't have neither Onkyo nor Tannoys, but B&W sounded very good especially with Arcam! It's quite tricky to find a shop in London that have both B&W and Tannoy.. or actually the shop that have Tannoys :)

Next week I've got another demo scheduled with Onkyo 875 vs Arcam AVR350 with B&W CM7 vs PMC GB1i i think it's going to be interesting. I definitely need to schedule Tannoys demo somewhere because I think they're the best looking ones! :)

So if you had a choice between B&W CM7 and Tannoy Revolution what would you go for?

I'd have to hear them, preferably in my room and with my components to answer that. Looks-wise they are both attractive speakers.

I heard them at the Heathrow show, they didn't do very much for me at all, sorry.

I've got the HFW mag copy.. Looks like B&W win this one.. although it was a close call.

I wonder what will be the difference between B&W and PMC speakers on saturday although PMC is more expensive so it's not fair competition.

I auditioned the Tannoys three times. The combination ''extremely good looking - great sound'' was good enough for me to fall for them and I decided that I wanted them in my house! I'm orientating since november 2007 for a completely new Home cinema set and since then I listened to a lot of different speakers. First I fell for the Keff iQ 9's, then the Monitor Audio RS 6, switched during a short period to the Focal Lab 826 and then finally I got in contact with the tannoy's and I couldn't resist them :). Today I made the deal in the Hifi shop. I ordered the tannoy DC6, with the dc6-t and the center, marantz 8002 and the marantz dv7001 as dvd-cd combination. The flatscreen that will accompany these beauties, is the panasonic TH-50PZ800.

So, to make a long story short: for me the tannoys are the perfect match.

It is unlikely that you are anywhere near me but could you let me know where you auditioned the Tannoy's?

I am based a little south of Milton Keynes and am struggling to find anywhere local that stocks the DC6 range let alone partner them with an Onkyo 875. One shop in London has the DC6t's but not the center or the amp.

I am very keen to get them but would obviously like a listen first.

Thanks for your help.

It occured to me a few minutes after posting the messge that many members are not based in the UK.

Thanks anyway.
