Tannoylite, a great user here in the forum, recommended tannoy for calssical music and also jazz.

What is their best model for 1000 pounds? It has to be also good for some rock.

Thank you again

Floorstanding or bookshelf?

If the former, I'd probably go for the Revolution Signature DC6T or, for a bit more wonga the Eyris DC3 if you can find a pair; if the latter, listen to the DC6, but I might push the budget and go for the Autograph Mini.

Unfortunately, Tannoy distribution in my country has been very slow lately, so the "new" models (not so new, really, but...) are not available yet. I don't know them.

The Eyris DC3 are excellent for classical, very warm, organic and big sound. The DC1 are also very good. Although I prefer previous models, such as the Definition 500, which is a strong favorite among tannerds. Its retail price was USD 4.000:

Some people think that the D500 is just as good as the Dimension 8, which is a lot more expensive!

I also think that studio models offer better value. I know, they are uglier. But I've owned the Definition 500 and the System 800 studio monitors, which cost 4 times less than the D500, and I really think their performance is comparable.

For GBP 1000 maybe you can find a used System 15 DMT MKII. This is a main studio monitor weighting 45 kilos, which was in production for more than a decade. This speaker uses exactly the same 15" Dual Concentric driver as the Tannoy Churchill, a Prestige model specifically manufactured for the US market, which retailed for USD 15,000!. It has VDH internal wiring, a hard wired crossover, DMT cabinets...it's just like a Prestige model, only it costs a fraction of a Prestige. On Ebay you can find them at +- USD 1,500.
