System upgrade

I have had my Denon CD Player (DCD 560), Philips Amp (DFA 888) and Mordunt Short Speakers (MS 3.30 with integrated stands) since +-1991.

I recently replaced the speakers with Warfdale Diamond 8.4 floorstanders and added XP Silver Anniversary cables. The sound has since improved dramatically. However, I feel that I want to upgrade the CD and Amp later in this year. What do you recommend that will take the overall sound qulaity up a few more notches?

What sort of budget are you looking at and what are your musical tastes?

Thanks Terryff. As I am writing from South Africa, and I make the assumption that a 150 pound per item system is of reasonable quality. Total budget is 300 pounds.

I listen to jazz, classics, R&B and classics mainly.
