Surround sound with PZ81

Hi,

I want to connect a 360 and PS3 to a PZ81. If i connect both via hdmi to tv, then tv optical out to surround system will i get true digital surround? Or do i need to connect the consoles direct to the surround system? Also would any quality be lost if the sound went through the tv first? Any suggestions for a dunce would be much appreciated 🙂

Hi there,

You need to connect the consoles direct to the surround system (and the TV, too, if you want to make the most of the Freesat HD broadcasts that are in Dolby Digital surround flavours.)

A good surround-sound receiver will also tidy up those video connections to your TV, too - plug all into the receiver, then just have a single HDMI cable to your set.
