Surround sound when using TVs built in freeview tuner

Hi

I'm looking to upgrade my TV, probably to panasonic's new 32 inch model. If I'm using the built in freeview tuner, is it possible to still have the sound output through my 5.1 system? If so, how do you do it?

My pioneer has a "digital optical out" socket that I use to connect to the amp - just as well as the TV has no speakers. I would expect the panasonic to have something similar.

My panasonic tv is connected to my Onkyo with a HDMI cable with the ARC (audio return channel) enabled.
I always listen to my tv via my Onkyo amp using one of the 5.1 channel movie modes.

Does anyone know if Sony or Panasonics TVs have the audio return feature?

Yes they do, this may depend on which model you intend buying, if it is the Panasonic TXL32E6B then yes it does have ARC.
