Surely there is a loss of sound quality when ripping?

Getting boring.

Borrow a DAC from your local dealer (on 'sale or return' or whatever your dealer is happy with), download iTunes - it's free - rip some fave tracks ('preferences', 'import settings', 'lossless', tick the 'Use error correction' box). Play them.

If it makes you want to throw up, take the DAC back ("sorry Mr Dealer, I forgot the house has no electricity") remove iTunes and be happy.

If you think it sounds great, then ignore what we all said and enjoy it.
