Hi, first time poster coming for advice, hopefully you don't get too much of this sort of thing and aren't sick of it by now!
Anyway, I'm going to be moving into a nicer student house next year, and with my bigger room I decided it's about time I got myself a decent sound system. So I am about to take my first baby steps into the world of high end audio; after alot of research the most appealling amplifier that has grabbed my attention is the Onkyo A-5VL. I really like the idea of pairing this with the ND-S1 ipod dock that seems to be well recieved here. I've found an internet offer for both dock and amp for £415 which seems like a bit of a steal to me for dock, DAC and integrated amplifier (plus they look quite pretty together which is always a nice bonus). I have a well organized itunes library and alot of it is in 320 AAC or ALAC so this really does sound ideal for me.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Onkyo amplifiers before and whether I am getting a good value for this set up. I am also at a bit of a loss with what speakers to pair with this. My budget for speakers is going to have to be £300 pounds at the most, even this is stretching it a bit on my student budget! I listen to mostly electronic music, but also quite a bit of rock, folk and dub; so I am looking for some quite versatile speakers really, perhaps leaning more to a pair with nice bass, but value for money being the main deciding factor. My shortlist is something like the KEF iQ10, Dali Lektor 2, Monitor BR2s or maybe B&W 686, but I am very open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any help!
