Hi,

Below is a picture of the rear of my sub. Even though I have a basic to middling knowledge of Home cinema equipment, I could do with some advice. I don't know what the best settings are for my sub? I just tend to put everything to it's maximum which probably isn't the best solution.

Can someone tell me the best settings, or advice to what would get the best out of it?

Can you go through each setting as well?

Thanks

Ok, I can't attach the picture for some reason, so if you can be bothered, please check out this link.

When did you buy it , did your dealer not help or advise as there is quite a few options there?

What is the rest of your speaker setup?

Pretty simple really.

Assuming you're using a modern AV amplifer rather than a stereo amp.

Feed the LFE or Sub Out from your amp to the "Line In" on the sub.

Set the "Low pass filter" on the sub to "bypass" (your amp will set the rolloff point for bass so you don't want the sub trying to do the same thing).

Set the Bass to "ref" (presume this is the reference setting).

Then, if your amp has an auto-set up programme with a microphone use that. Otherwise play some bass heavy music through it (i find it much easier to detect the right level of bass with music than with film soundtrack) and adjust the Sub level at the amp until it sounds right (keep increasing the bass until it sounds overblown then back off a little). If you can't get enough bass out of it then increase the Bass level up slightly from the 'ref' setting.

Set the power switch to auto (which should detect an audio signal and turn the sub off when not needed)

Try the phase switch in both positions and leave it in the one which sounds best. If you can't hear a difference leave it as +
