Im running a b&w asw610 with a pair of 683 s2. IM powering them with a rega elex-r and running the sub off the pre out on the amp.

However, I just dont seem to be getting enough volume from the sub. Even with the sub turned all the way up, the sub level is bairly audible at normal listening volumes.

I have to turn the system all the way up (which is too loud) before you start to here the sub kick.
Am I doing something wrong? Would the sub be best wired to the speaker level inputs?

Also what crossover frquency should I set on the sub. The manual says to set the freq to match the -6dB low frequency of the satellite speakers.
The 683 manual says -6dB at 30Hz and 50KHZ.

Does this mean I set the sub to 30HZ as I can barely hear anything here.

You shouldn't be able to hear the sub. It should sound like your main speakers are producing the sub bass. The sub just needs to add a sensation of depth to the low end rather than actually being audible on it's own.

It will depend on which of the lower requencies you can hear from the speakers in your listening position what you set the crossover frequency to on the sub. 50hz might be a good starting point.

An awful lot depends on the kind of music you listen to, though i'm guessing a fair amount of 'dance'.

A lot of modern music does not so much require sub bass as mid bass kick and punch. This is primarily the job of the main speaker and an awful lot of speakers really do not do this very well.

I do not know your amp/speaker combination at first hand so this is more of a general comment, do you have any eq in your system, if so try giving a bit of boost in the 150hz region, maybe even a little higher. See if the speakers can handle that without going all boomy.
