I have a Samsung UE55C7000 TV with Synology DS211J Nas and want to stream movies/music to my TV. The problem i have is that the TV does have this built in but its not very good and seems limited. I am wondering if there is any software or a very small device that will allow me to do this. I have tried Serviio but cant get it to work and think it might be something to do with the latest Synology update but this would have been ideal.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Synology NAS and Samsung 6530 TV. There was not a great deal of info on this so I went searching on the net and found that I had to enable/switch on a feature in the NAS admin set-up to do with DNLA - I'm sorry but I can't remember the detail - possibly enable Windows File Services (CIFS). This was the magic button because then the Samsung TV "saw" everything on my NAS server - brilliant! One of the main reasons for upgrading my TV and it works very well (much better than my Netgear media streamer.

Enabling the right bit of the NAS automatically creates some extra folders in the NAS directory - you just need to drag/copy the files you want to view/listen to (music as well) and then the TV displays them all.
