Hi we have 100s of CDs which take up too much space

I am a real luddite, and rather anti apple, so don't want any ipod or other mobile related solutions

I just want a way to rip CDs to another 'system' and be able to play them through their own speakers.....

Have looked at Brennan and squeezebox (with NAS)

any other solutions??

would really appreciate any tips

So what speakers are you using, is it just through the TV.

Hi we just use tv speakers at mo, we have some proper speakers in storage, but as in process of moving using tv

Shame because I was going to recommend a 500GB Mac Mini. You could rip and store thousands of CDs in Apple AAC format, or hundreds in lossless ALAC format, and play them all via iTunes. If you like you could even control it all remotely from an Android (or Apple) smartphone. The Mac Mini will even plug straight into your TV via HDMI with no issues.

It's fine having an irrational 'anti-somethig' bias, I suppose we all have at least one, but it's unfortunate that in your case you're alienating yourself from one of the most elegant and capable solutions to your problem. But your choice, of course. Hope you get something you like.
