Steel or glass base for speaker stands?!

I'm thinking of buying the Custom Design RS300 speaker stands - which have either a glass or steel base for the steel column. I like the look of the glass base (6mm) but worried that the sound won't be as good as with the steel. Does anyone know??!! Please help before I make a stupid mistake!

I think that as long as a stand has mass for a stable base , then it doesn't matter what it's made out of - glasss, stone, metal etc - I reckon if you can hear an audible difference in sound quality just by changing a sturdy speaker stand then you should apply to whf to review hdmi cables 🙂
