I see that LucasFilms' Director of Content has confirmed a Star Wars Blu Ray box set is being produced - made the announcement at a comic convention in Chigaco. Apparently it's rumoured to hit the US next year (October!)... (Apologies if this is old news)

I'm starting to save the pennies now!

You do know that on Bluray everything is going to look plastic don't you? And you'll see all the strings...

Stick with the DVD and keep the belief alive!

PMSL. I wonder if they'll rework the audio of Episodes IV, V, and VI ? I know you shouldn't wish your life away, but this can't come soon enough. I'll be taking the day off to watch the lot back to back when this arrives. Cheers for the heads up Scene !

he'll release in DTS master audio. Then invent a new audio format. 3D audio. I'm not sure how that will work, but it will. Then another version where a lifesize Boba Fett stands in the corner of your livingroom, looking menacing...

Paulthefilmfan:I'd prefer a life size Princess Leia.

Really? She's getting on a bit now.

not that there's anything wrong with that, he said hurriedly, in case the missus is reading this...

I'd put money on him NOT doing that. It'll be Dolby TrueHD 7.1, guaranteed.

7.1 not 5.1?

Well, given the DVDs were Dolby Digital EX 6.1, I don't see why they'd take a backwards step from that point of view.

I dunno, he might be right, some of the Death Star fly-bys look much less convincing on the Special Editions.

And suddenly you find that the kids Star Wars outfits and toy guns actually look quite convincing all of a sudden....

Hey, anything's got to be better than the forthcoming 3D version of Titanic, apparently due for release in 2012 to shamelessly cash in on commemorate the centenary of the disaster.
