Standard forum?

I was wondering. Noticing many requests for functionality that is present on many standard forum templates.
Is there a reason why one of these wasn't used?

The answer is so long and tedious, i'd send myself to sleep - let alone all you lot - if I related it.

But to stress, we (as in the editorial team) are well aware of the functionality that SHOULD be present, and are working incredibly hard to make sure it gets added/reinstated.

The forum runs on a standard platform, but it was decided not to implement some features when the site was initially relaunched last year.

We are currently looking at an upgrade, and will add features as and when we have the time and resources to do so.
