spotify to cut back on free music

Andy

" From May 1st, any user who signed up to the free service on or before November 1st 2010 will be able to play each track for "free up to five times ".

I'll go to the w.site to see if there is more info, but if i understand that correctly, " free up to 5 times ", that will mean that it's pointless creating play lists as they will presumably be removed once they have been played 5 times.

I think the bunfight between the labels and Spotify will go on for some time to come. The labels, being on the back foot are digging their heels in trying to work out how to reestablish their position in the market.

Spotify needs more subscribers and the free with adverts was just too attractive without raising enough revenue. The lables vs Spotify is very annoying as two of my favourite bands, The Pineapple Thief and ASIWYFA are no longer available. I may have to buy some CDs for the first time in a couple of years.
