Anyone else had problems with Spotify just stopping mid track, and then starting again a few seconds later. And then stopping again. Annoying.

Yes and quite regularly. It is either caused by background programmes, particularly firewall etc security updates or bandwidth throttling. I have to download what I want to listen to in the venings as my braodband connection is not the greatest.

Never had a problem with it; I do occasionally have problems with my ISP service dropping out briefly, but that only happens at certain times in the day (early evening on and off, late evening is fine), but I don't believe anything with Spotify directly.

I contacted my service provider who blamed BT for the bandwidth throttling. I spoke to a nieghbour who works for BT and he agreed. The throttling usually causes drop outs that more than a second or two.

me too. last weekend it was unlistenable Saturday morning; today it was fine though

matthewpiano:I have similar issues. Until these problems get sorted out streaming from the internet is never going to become an acceptable way to listen.

At least with Spotify Premium you can download music and listen off line and so get round the issues. I am not aware of any other streaming service that lets you do that. All the others primarily want you to buy downloads.

Steaming music, as it grows in popularity is going to be an issue in this country as BT will not invest in serious broadband bandwidth. Spotify, when I had an email exchange with them when the problem first arose, stated that the UK was the worst in Europe. When you see the bandwidths provided in the likes of South Korea (I dont have figures to hand, but they are way head of us) we are lagging way behind.

Currently 100Mbps in most places with a massive drive from Government and industry to roll out 1Gbps by 2012

(They started investing in 100Mbps back in 2003)

Most of our Government are too thick to know what 'an internet' is and are still wetting themselves in excitement over the 'Digital Britain' report which states....

"Universal access to today's broadband by 2012...."

What a contrast in ambitions for 2012!

I just ran a test and got 4992kbps, which I presume is 4.9Mbps. The test site is here. Spotify is working fine and downloading my listening for later on has been quick with no cutting out.
