Running Spotify while other applications are running on the IPhone

It is a pitty Apple do not allow applications to run in the background (except for there application) They say this is for quality control, but i reckon it might be for consumer control. I found another cool tutorial that could be usefull for some.

I reckon the 3Gs is more than capable of running many applications simaltanously

You only get 160kbps on the iPhone app whether streaming or listening offline.

I think this is a real problem and can't see why Spotify doesn't offer the option for 320kbps streaming and syncing for offline use. I find this omission particularly frustrating because, like many others, I haven't got my PC set up for quality audio platyback - and don't want to sit at my PC all night anyway. With 320kbps on an iPhone you have the option to listen anywhere, either directly through the headphone jack, which more than merits a 320 source with decent earphones, or hooked up to a hi fi, headphone amp or whatever. The 160 stream/offline sync for the iPhone app really lets Spotify down IMO.

There's a high quality option I think isn't there? I have the app for my Nokia E55 and assumed that the bitrate was 320 - not used it much though.

Anyone having issues with the Spotify iPhone app since upgrading from iOS 5 (on an iPhone 4)? I keep having to re-sync my offline playlists. Seems to be a known problem, which should be cleared by restarting the app but it keeps happening for me.

Yes, I've been having this problem too. Also not syncing new songs added to a playlist. Seems to have settled down over last few days but I'm still wary. When you say restart the app, do you just been press the home button to come out of it or something else?

Do you have the latest version of the app? This was a problem on iOS4 a couple of versions ago which was resolved. If it's iOS5 specific, I'd expect a fix in a few days...

Spotify's advice in the past has been to restart the app, meaning double click home button in order to bring up multitasking bar at bottom. Hold Spotify app until you get the stop symbol at top left of icon, click that, and then open Spotify again.

It was updated on the 10th but doesn't seem to have been iOS 5 specific, so one is probably due as you say.

I have the new 4s and using the spotify app. Do you have to log in everytime you use it, and is there a stop somewhere to stop the track (not just pause) ?

I am going to look idiot if there is a simple stop button ! :cheer:

On my android phone you could got into the app without logging on every time and exit without logging off.

Anyone used the spotify remote app (the one you pay for) ?

If this problem/solution has been posted before, please accept my apologies.

Problem: Spotify played through Logitech 715i via my wife's iphone - sounds just fine. However, every so often, at random intervals, it stops working - it doesn't log out of the account, but it doesn't go back to where it left off, either - very annoying, to say the least.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

I don't think it's the Logitech - works fine with an ipod nano docked...
