Blimey, Clare has changed a bit..........

The people who voted probably wanted something more "urban" - hence we have to listen to more appalling british rubbish rap. At least artists like NWA actually lived in the hood and the lyrics are sometimes amusing.

I was hoping the Florence and the machine would win, great album!

I think most British rap artists live on council estates and, given that's what they write their lyrics about, I don't see a problem? Most British hip-hop artists now have their own distinct style, the days when they used to ape the US sound has long gone, thankfully, US hip-hop has become a turgid joke.

Anyone got this or heard it?

Thoughts?

Yep - I always take a punt on a few CDs from the Mercury list. Its not my usual type of thing, but I like it. The music is quite intricate in some respects and I like her voice on it. Also worth a look is The Horror's album (also on the list)
