Speakers required for Arcam Amp - Help please.

Hello,

First time on the forums - I have moved house, old speakers now broken (long story).

I don't have much space now in the living room so I was looking for a pair of speakers [bookshelf with stands etc.) to go with my aging (but fantastic) Arcam Alpha 6 amplifier. I'm looking to spend no more than £150 on the speakers themselves and obviously cables and stands as extra depending on what's required/needed?

Can't recommend any specific models in that price range, but I've found Acoustic Energy to be a great match for Arcam. Monitor Audio also good.

Do you want floorstanding speakers or standmount speakers?

Are you prepared to buy 2nd hand or brand new?

The Alpha 6 was my 1st ever hifi amp along with the Alpga 5 CDP; great little combo and I had them paired with some Acoustic Energy AE109 speakers and they sounded fantastic

Get speaker cable from Maplins OR if you want I have some QED basic speaker cable (1.5m x 2 with banana plugs both ends you can have if a MOD/Adminstrator will pass on my email details for you)

As for stands; go 2nd hand. Atacama Nexus 6 or Sound Style Z2's will more than suffice and can be picked up for a few £ on eBay or Gumtree/Preloved etc... Either search on nearest first or see whol'll deliver

Stands will be fine as they are BUT they will sound better if their filled so dry sand is the cheapest etc...

I would advise B&W 602s3, always a pair on ebay somewhere, sometimes sellers selling stands as well

Good call BUT... Unfortunately they sell for close to £200or more currently. If you look at completed transactions you'll see that 9/10 they still fetch good money!

I agree but I would be patient and look for that 1 out of 10,that's the fun for me.
