Speakers pop using my Rotel amp

There are a few topics on this across the net but I wonder if anyone has any recent advice to stop an old amp from popping when turning on. I believe the speakers pop because there is a residual amount of current left in the amp and it has no muting circuitry like modern amps. So without wanting to buy a new amp, any suggestions? If I leave it on permanently will this cost shed loads? The amp feeds through another processor amp but the muting circuitry doesn't seem to stop the Rotel passing through it??

My Bryston does the exact same thing my meridian g55 did it before that.

It's would be better if it didn't but don't worry about it

Try turning the volume down to zero and waiting a few seconds before turningoff the amp. This will give the pwer amplifier section capacitors a chance to discharge fully before they're isolated.

This was de rigeur on older amps as it helped stop the volume potentiometer from getting burned. My dad only binned his old Technics SU-V5 after nearly 20 years of service because the volume knob stopped working (mostly I think to us little herberts not doing the above when we were teens).
