Hello all,

Just playing with the settings on my amp (yamaha ax763) and was just wondering about the individual speaker volumes. Is it generally best to have these set high and reduce the main volume or set the individual levels low and increase the overall volume or does it make no difference. I have mine set quite high, fronts +5db, centre +6.5db, rears +5db. b&w685 front and rear, htm62 centre.

Just wondered any idea or thoughts welcome

Cheers

Did the auto setup give you those figures? The idea behind the levels is that each speaker should produce the same amount of sound at a given indicated volume. For instance each speaker should produce 75db when the amp is at -15. As long as they are all relative to each other then it shouldnt matter and the figures you have are fine.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the reply, cant remember exactly but i think auto setup gave me 3.5 front (large), 4.5 centre (large) and 2 rears (small) . I changed all speakers to large also tried them in small and didnt notice much difference, increased the volumes on each speaker slightly.

The sound produced it excellent. Good to know it doesnt really matter.

Thanks
