Hi,

I want to upgrade my CA s30 speakers. I have a cyrus 5 amp and Beresford 7510 DAC. I don't have a huge space so I am not sure if floor standers will be any good. Does anybody ever compared these speakers with B&W 685? Or a second hand B&W CDM1? How much improvement these speakers will give over the s30s and if I were to spend more let's say £600-700 will that be any significant over the £300-400 range speakers? Or would you get a £600-700 stand mount or a same price floor stander for instance?

Cheers,

Alper

Well, exactly what about these? They look very nice and have good reviews and so but I have no chance to test. These are like double the price of B&W 685 but are they twice better? Or they are probably 10 times more expensive than my current s30 speakers but are they 10 times better?

I have been looking at whathifi's reviews lately and there are 5star speakers for £100 and then for £10000 as well. I guess there is a 5 star speaker from every manufacturer and at the end should I just go for one that I can from ebay and settle with it?

What about something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPENDOR-S3-5-ROSEWOOD-BOXED-MINT-CONDITION-/260847772262?pt=UK_AudioVideoElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_HiFiSpeakers

You asked for some suggestions, which I have given, based on my taste and what I think would go with Cyrus. They are only worth the difference if you like the presentation of Spendor or Proac etc.

There are plenty of reviews on the web of how these speakers sound, which will give you an idea. If you like a bright, forward presentation, then they may not be for you. Proac are sweet, but a bit livelier. PMC are also worth looking out for as they are livelier again, without tipping into harshness.

IMO. All these speakers are better than B&W, but that is personal to me.

Sorry I can't be of more help.....maybe someone with your amp will reply

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I am keeping an eye on these speakers for ex-demo or second hand. I am also considering dynaudio x12. Which ever I will get for a good price, I will go with that one and use it for a while and see if its alright.
