Hello everyone!
I just bought Focal Aria 906's and am now looking into buying stands to support them.
I have difficulties however finding companies that produce these things, in particular because I keep coming up with surround-style stands.
I live in Belgium (don't know if that matters) and was wondering what stands you are using and what makers seem to be regarded as "good".
I must say that the Aria's were at the top of my budget, so I won't be going all out on the stands although they should look halfway decent (not to upset my girlfriend) and be available in black.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

Hi. Their own stands are good (focal 900s or something like that), but if they are too expensive, go for Atacama Nexus 6i - that's what I'm using with my arias. Fill each stand with 3.5 kilos of sand (or half a bucket of atacama atabites) for better and tighter bass, and you're set. Add two sets of atacama hd-s spike shoes to protect your floor or carpet.

Nice looking speakers. Good reviews. My preference for floorstanders left me with the choice of Atacama for the rears. I've never been sure of the importance of stand choice (particularly for rears) provided they are substantial but I am willing to be assured that they can contribute to sound quality. I've not seen many forum debates on the sound of different stands. Height, looks and substance would guide my decisions but I keep an open mind and invite comment from those more knowledgeable.

Brands to look at:

Soundstyle Atacama Partington Custom Design Apollo

Nice list CnoEvil. I have used Atacama SE24's and Partington Dreadnoughts in the past (still have them in the garage).

The OP should take those listed into account and I am sure will be able to find a design that is both wallet and girlfriend friendly amongst them.

Unlike the electronic components that sit ontop speaker stands, the stands themselves present very little risk buying used. I'd rather have a good quality used stand than a new but slightly lame one, particularly if the remaining budget is a little tight.

There's little to go wrong with a stand apart from the finish receiving a few knocks, but there are plenty of people that take care of their equipment. Try to see what might fit the bill (in terms of height especially: you should aim to measure it so that the tweeters are approximately at ear height when on the stands) and then search for these on one of two well-known sites.

Another saving is to fill the stands with sand from your local builder's merchant rather than the expensive specialist speaker manufacturer filler. As long as the stand doesn't ring when you tap it (it should sound more like a dull thud) then it's doing its job correctly.

Hi friendly_ghost

Also look at the Q Acoustics Concept 20 speaker stands. We use these stands as they have excellent build, fit, finishing and provide solid support for loudspeakers

They also look great too

We also use the Concept 20 stands to suuport Focal's Electra 1008be, ATC curved SCM19 monitors, Monitor Audio Platinum PL100, Raidho Acoustics X-1, etc. If they're good enough for these loudspeakers then i feel they also good enough for Aria 906's. Fwiw, please look at our Facebook page and you'll see pictures Concept 20 stands supporting Aria 905's, curved SCM19's and X-1's.

Btw, Aria 906's are top loudspeakers. Good choice

Just offered €50 for a pair of black Norstone Stylum 2's. I have been looking for a long time, using the dealer stands in the meantime. I'm glad I found them at this price, if we don't get along I'll probably be able to sell them for the same price.

My Soundstyle Z2 have a larger diameter main column that is filled with foam and does not ring when tapped. However, the two rear columns are hollow and ring nicely. I am wondering if filling these with sand is of any value (have to check if it is possible even). Presumably, any support can resonate and so damping the main support has only done part of the job.
